Wrinkles and fine lines on the face are the two most common (and most hated) aging problems. There are many treatments and commercial creams which claim they can help, but besides burning a hole in your pocket, they are rarely effective and even dangerous in some cases.
As we age, the skin loses its oils and collagen which makes it become flaccid. This will also make it appear dry, dull, thin and lifeless and leads to the appearance of the dreaded wrinkles.
However, in some cases, wrinkles can come earlier caused by different factors than aging. Here’s what makes wrinkles appear on your skin:
Excessive sun exposure
Excessive exposure to the sun’s UV rays can accelerate the breakdown of collagen and elastic fibers in your skin, leading to premature appearance of wrinkles. In this way, the skin will become thinner and more fragile as well.
Smoking
Studies have shown that smoking has a direct impact on the quality of our skin and may be responsible for wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth and eyes. Smoking does this by interrupting proper blood and oxygen flow to the skin, resulting in the wrinkles.
Repeated facial expressions
Repeating a few facial expressions often will definitely cause wrinkles on your face, especially if you age. Make sure to smile, frown and squint only when appropriate in order to keep your skin elastic.
Can the aging process be stopped and the wrinkles erased?
Although the aging process can’t be completely stopped, it can be slowed down and delayed. If you want to delay the appearance of your wrinkles, make sure to drink plenty of water in order to stay hydrated, eat a healthy diet and stay physically active.
Additionally, get at least 8 hours of sleep overnight, stop smoking, reduce your sugar and alcohol intake and add some healthy fats in your diet through dietary sources such as nuts and seeds, avocado and olive oil.
Besides these tips, you can also try reducing the appearance of your wrinkles with some of the following essential oils:
