How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar to Deal with Acne, Sunburns, and Age Spots

tophealthyguide September 19, 2019

Acne, eczema, psoriasis, sunburns or age spots are among the most common skin disorders nowadays. Although you can fight age spots and acne with certain remedies, there’s just no universal treatment which can treat them all.

Most people suffering from a few problems stick to different store-bought products that can cause additional complications. However, everyone’s hoping for a universal treatment and luckily for you, we have it.

Apple Cider Vinegar – The One Liquid To Rule Them All!

ACV is made from fermented apples which turn to acetic acid, the active compound in the vinegar. Most people know ACV as a cooking ingredient, but the truth is that it’s far more than that. The acetic acid and other compounds in ACV as well as its alkalizing properties make it great for our skin and overall health.

ACV For Our Skin

For years, apple cider vinegar has been used as a natural remedy against various skin problems, including eczema, psoriasis, dry skin and similar problems.

It works by destroying bacteria that might have caused the problem in the first place and by altering the pH of our skin. The compounds found in the liquid can also tighten your skin and reduce the size of your pores, effectively preventing a variety of problems.

How To Use ACV For Acne

The malic acid ACV contains makes it a great facial cleanser. Due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, apple cider vinegar can soothe the inflammation in your skin and treat acne naturally. To get rid of acne, just wash your face with ACV every morning, followed by a water rinse.

How To Use ACV For Sunburns

Sunburns are the worst – they make your skin tighter and the itching and burning certainly doesn’t help. Even worse, the healing process might take some time and there’s no remedy that accelerates it. Other than ACV, that is.

ACV is a natural astringent which can help your skin heal faster and resolve the problem in no time. To use it, mix equal amounts of ACV and cold water in a bowl, then apply the mixture on your skin and rub gently. Repeat the process a few times per day and the sunburns should be gone soon.

ACV As A Skin Toner

Due to the astringent properties, ACV can reduce the size of your pores and boost the blood flow in your skin. This makes it a great natural skin toner.

To use it as a toner, mix ½ a cup of ACV and water with a few drops of lavender oil in a bowl, then soak a cotton ball in the mixture and dab it on your skin. Leave the mixture to work for 2-3 minutes, then wash the area with water. Repeating the procedure twice per day will soon improve your complexion.

ACV For Age Spots

The alpha-hydroxy acids found in ACV can exfoliate your skin and reduce the appearance of your age spots. To use it, simply soak a cotton pad in the liquid, then dab the affected area. Leave the cotton pad on for about 30 minutes and use the method twice a day for best results. The age spots should disappear in about 6 weeks.

CAUTION: when using ACV against various skin problems, you should be aware that you can’t expect results overnight. All natural remedies need time before they work, so be patient and the results will come.

Also, you need to be cautious with the use of ACV, as it can make some skin problems much worse. ACV can inflame your skin and make it itch and burn if the condition you’re treating has progressed too far. In this case, the problem needs medical attention, so you shouldn’t treat it with ACV.

Finally, as ACV might cause an allergic reaction, it’s a good idea to try it on a smaller patch of skin first before using it on your face.
